Acts of kindness

Last week I’ve started a new job. Working full time within new working hours and longer travelling distance to work, required some changes into my daily routine. I needed to plan my days differently and manage time efficiently. My days now start early and finish late. I even decided that now, as we approached winter, I don’t open the blinds in my room simply because I leave home when it is still dark and come back home when it is already dark. One of the things I really cherish in this new reality is a warm cooked meal at the end of the day. The dinner, which is prepared by one of the sisters or our friend, Elizabeth (or by me, when it is my turn to cook) gives me not only some nourishment but also feeling of home to which one wants to return. Home is created by simple acts of kindness and service to one another. A bowl of soup or freshly baked bread is not only a necessity. It is also a sign that we all care for one another. Tonight, when you will get back home from work to a warm meal or if you will be able to prepare a meal for someone, you are creating home. You are telling the people you live with or for whom you cooked that they matter for you. Have a good week everyone. Enjoy your meals 🙂
