What does HOPE have to do with my NEW LOGO?

This article will be a bit different from those I have written before. Today, I want to tell you a story about how HOPE and LOGO became inseparable from this blog.

It has been almost 18 months since I started to write this blog. Eighteen months of sharing the stories and trying to articulate how God is leading me and other people I meet in my life. I really enjoyed the process of thinking, creating and sharing those stories. Ever since the blog was established, I was encouraged by my best friend Elizabeth Sara (thank you for coaching me in writing) to create the logo. But I was not ready. I was not sure what it should be: words, symbol or combination of both? I was not sure what could express the whole dynamic of our life when we are SEEKING GOD’S GRACE.

Just a couple of weeks ago, the idea about the logo came back again. I really wanted to emphasise the fact that GOD is the centre of our life and SEEKING his GRACE is the only action worth our efforts, because finding HIM is finding LIFE and HOPE. This is when I asked some help from  Anthony Costa, with whom I work (a creative media specialist), who came up with some initial design. I liked it. The colours settled with me, the magnifying glass was a great symbol of searching and seeking, but I felt that something was still missing.

At the same time, I invited Elizabeth Sara once more to the brainstorming stage. What she shared with me was super amazing. Just recently she stumbled upon the Old Testament story of Noah’s Ark and the flood. (See: Genesis 8: 1-12). In that story Noah had used the dove to check if the waters already receded, but initially the bird was very quickly coming to the ark which indicated no dry land around. After many days of flying back and forth, the dove finally returned with the olive leaf in his beak, which was a symbol of the earth renewed and safe for Noah and his family to start a new life.

And now you can see that the dove with the green branch was THE BEST CHOICE of symbol to be added to the logo inside the magnifying glass.

And there you have it! A new logo for this blog. Hope you will like it and slowly start identifying things posted here and on social media by the words and symbols which have their stories and place in the creation of this logo:

SEEKING God in your life

Making GOD the centre of your life

Asking Him to be open to receive his GRACE.

Seeking God’s Grace – is the focus for life for all of us. With hope we turn to God in the midst of our life difficulties or tragedies and await with trust that it will all pass. Without God’s grace we will not exist anymore because of our own many and repeated faults. I do hope that in the present context of Covid-19 and all difficulties we are going through, you will be able to see this symbol as a sign of HOPE. With God we believe in the new beginning which will come – at His time, even if right now our dove is not bringing back the green branch yet.

May God bless you, may His Spirit bring you hope. Have a good week.

Sr Grace

P.S. I would like to express my gratitude to Elizabeth Sara and Anthony for creating this logo with me. I love the fact that if we invite more people in creating process (of everything) – God take the lead and allow us to create something great – using many different gifts and skills each one of us has. Thank you for sharing yours with me and those who come to this blog.

I also would like to acknowledge my congregation – Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth, for letting me to write this blog (and have some fun doing so). It is a great joy for me that I can share a bit of my story with others while being part of a religious community of sisters around the world.
